Current Music: PaYne
The story of the PaYne band unfolded far away from music in general, though the unmistakable PaYne chemistry has now been harnessed and channeled into positive creation. The up coming album, Good to the Universe, will unleash the insanity that first powered Up Front. Now, it is the driving force behind PaYne.

The PaYne band, formerly known as Up Front, was formed down on the farm in Fallston, North Carolina. The first friendship formed when Micky met Joe. On that summer's day, the two young men could have never known what a ride they were in for. Joe had just recently relocated from Detroit City, Michigan to Shelby, North Carolina. He had gained employment performing home renovations. Joe, while on an assignment, just so happened to find himself in Micky's path. The firm that young Joseph had gained employment with had contracted to paint the young Micky's parents house. One afternoon, much to Micky's surprise, he had discovered a strange guy on his roof. The two conversed for hours and ultimately discovered they both had a great love for music.

Joe and Micky eventually decided to form a band. Actually, that rural area in "Nowhere North Carolina" is a hotbed of musical talent. Many drummers, guitarists, and vocalists came and went as the duo began to grow discouraged. Finally, another piece to the musical puzzle was discovered. A freak incident produced the reuniting of Micky's childhood friend, Rick. Rick and Joe were introduced and Rick quickly initiated himself as the front man of the trio by skillfully creating the first of many lyrical masterpieces. Scoundrels now had completed lyrics to match the music. Soon after this event, the concept band Up Front was born. It was not just a name to the guys; it was a way of life. This attitude still lives on in the PaYne band today.

The trio soon realized their immediate need for a drummer. The guys auditioned anybody that said they could play drums. One major lesson was learned at this point. Not everyone who claimed to be a drummer could actually play the drums. Then one day, Rick was on break at some meaningless position he worked at, when he noticed some guy at a vending machine wearing a Zildjian hat. Rick approached the guy and asked "Do you play the drums?" Chad replied, "I try!". Rick quickly scheduled a meeting to introduce Chad to the other members of the band. Chad auditioned and things just clicked. The foursome continued to write new material while in search of the final piece of the musical puzzle.

The search for a rhythm guitarist led the guys down many different paths. The foursome found many different musicians with just as many excuses for why they couldn't or wouldn't just come play some music. Up Front was having extreme difficulty in finding someone with whom the chemistry was natural. During this period, the foursome began to think of changing the band's name. After much discussion and many ideas, the guys agreed to call their band PaYne.

Soon after, Rick met a young Brandon Harrell while at work one day. Brandon had just relocated to Spartanburg, South Carolina from Jacksonville, Florida. Rick and Brandon immediately felt a serious artistic compatibility. Rick decided to introduce Brandon to the other members of PaYne. After young Brandon's audition, the guys of PaYne decided to give him the opportunity to earn his stripes. Now as PaYne begins recording and rehearsing with Brandon, the chemistry continues to grow.

More information on PaYne's debut CD, tour dates, pictures, tracks, and other cool PaYne memorabilia will soon be available to all PaYne fans everywhere - on the Official PaYne Band Web Site! http://www.payneband.com
